"Now the God of peace that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen." -  (Hebrews 13:20-21)

Psalm 19:1–10 (ESV)
1 The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
4 Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the [...]

Psalm 57 (ESV)
To the choirmaster: according to Do Not Destroy. A Miktam of David, when he fled from Saul, in the cave.
1 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me,
for in you my soul takes refuge;
in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge,
till the storms of destruction pass by.

My favorite Gospel CD is Irish Hymns (Cumberland Records).

Note: Most of my favorite CD's are purely music providing a faint soothing background for reading, study or meditation. The only exception on the list is Jonny Lang, a raspy-voiced blues singer who has recently come to Christ. His CD, Turn Around, is my favorite. I like to listen to Lang as I drive - especially on long trips.

Testimony:
I was born into a family of faith. My maternal grandfather and great grandfather were preachers, therefore I have never known a time in my life where I was not influenced by the Bible and the Church. Sin was addressed regularly, and Christ was presented as the only hope for remission of sin. None of the information became personal until I was nine years old.
In the summer of 1965, I was sitting in a morning worship service when the unexpected happened. There was nothing special about the service. The choir sang, the preacher preached, but at the close of the service something happened that captured my attention. My brother, Terry (who was 23 months my senior), got up out of his pew and went to the front of the sanctuary to talk to the preacher. Two other children went forward as well. The preacher announced that my brother had accepted Christ during Vacation Bible School and desired to be baptized. I was shocked and perplexed. It seemed everyone was going to go to heaven without me. During that week I told my parents I wanted to be saved and baptized. My parents took me to the pastor who couldn't talk me out of my decision. The following Sunday I was baptized and all was well. I thought no more about the condition of my soul until my junior year of high school.
During the summer, between my junior and senior year of high school, I was shocked by the most disturbing event of my life. My brother, Terry, was killed in an auto accident. On the day of my brother's death life became brief, death became real and eternity seemed to loom near. I recalled the genuineness of his conversion to Christ and questioned my experience. But I pushed the thoughts aside and continued on with my life. The last year of high school was a total blur for me. I had to pass the cemetery where my brother was buried every day. Nothing seemed to matter anymore.
After graduation from high school I moved into a house with a man who was a friend of my family. Since losing his wife a number of years before, the kind gentleman had opened his house as a ministry to help young men get their start. He had two rules for those who moved into his home: 1. Contribute to the payment of the maid; and 2. Go to church when he went to church. The second rule was a catch. In order to go to church when he went to church we had to go to church where he went, because he went to church nearly every night! His practice put me in the company of some of the most dynamic believers I have ever known.  One night while sitting in a church service, I was summoned into a meeting with God. Heaviness, a burden, filled my heart and I suddenly knew I didn't know God. I went to the altar and was quickly surrounded by God's people who prayed for me. That night Jesus Christ became my Lord and Savior. I came to know the real reason my brother had walked an aisle in 1965 – he was being called, convicted and converted. I know now what he knew then – the presence of Jesus. Hallelujah!
